I Love Luc(ite)

If there’s anything tastier for mid-winter than a visual salad of lucite, ice and crystal, I don’t know what it is. The wonderful thing about lucite (or plexi, or acrylic if you will) is that it’s a timeless form of modern. It’ll never be a mere trend, and never be dated like those shapeless shoulder pads of the eighties.

Translate a shape into lucite and it becomes magic … candelabras. Flower boxes. Or a mounted deer.

Try to find an event planner who doesn’t light up at the mention of ghost chairs. Or expansive plexi floors. Lucite brings us to another dimension where material things turn into light, and objects are suspended. The lighting designer literally creates the room, and the mood. Awesome.

Plexi installations are a little like the people at joyous weddings. They glow from the inside.
