We are having a vintage/vineyard themed wedding, including antique london taxi's. We are so going with brown tuxes to keep with the classy style and theme of the wedding.

Brown is a beautiful color and it looks rich and classy, come on people this is 2009 get with the program and come out of the cave. Black is so lame. I plan to get married in a brown tux with red accessories

Who cares if the black tux is 'classic' and the brown is 'trendy'. When have you looked at a wedding picture over a decade old (or 5 yrs these days, for that matter) and thought, "Wow they look timeless! Was that photo taken last year or 10 years ago!??!" There's always a trend, and we always follow it to some degree. Do what you want to do (and your what your man wants to do, of course!) The future husband said no to brown till I showed him a picture, and he really likes it now. No manipulation involved. I just asked to at least look at it before he decided.

As a man who knows a good bit about clothing, I will state that brown tuxedos are an abomination. First, they are nothing more than a trend, and because they are currently “hot” now means that one day they will not look that way. Black is not a trend and will always look sharp and appropriate. Second, the point of the black tuxedo, white shirt, black (bow) tie, and black cummerbund (not vest) is to intentionally be simple. The ideas is to draw attention away from the man to the real focus: the bride.

I also find the idea of manipulating a man into wearing what you want him to wear is silly. He should be enough of a man to pick out his own clothes, especially for his wedding.

I finally convinced my future husband to wear brown when I took him took look at all the different tux options. He had the options of red, blue or green vests with brown so that he would be more compelled to wear it, liking the colors he matched himself. It didn’t matter which he chose anyway because I have brown on my dress!

Any man refusing to wear a brown tux is clearly more refined than his bride-to-be: the only correct colours are brown and midnight blue (because under certain lighting it is ‘blacker than black’).

I beg to differ with the idea that all men look great in brown. Mr. Twistie looks ghastly in brown, but utterly delectable in black…just as I look red hot in brown and blah in black. If your guy looks fantastic in brown and is willing to wear it, why not? But don’t assume that he’s going to look fantastic in brown until you’ve seen him in it.

Overall, though, my feeling is that if he hates the idea of wearing brown, don’t force the issue. After all, it’s his wedding day, too, and he should be happy with how he looks.
